Lobur, Turkana Expedition

12th of December
Day 1.
We drive from Nairobi to Marigat. Driving down into the Great valley and passing Lake Baringo.
We spend the night at Hope Cottages. We shall not camp, but take rooms, so that we can have an early start the next day.

13th of December
Day 2
We leave early from marigat heading towards the Turkwell Gorge.
On route will drive to Kapedo where we will explore the Kapedo hot springs. After which we head north for the Turkwell gorge through the West Pokot Mountains.
We will be spending the night at the KVDA camp.

14th of December
Day 3
We depart from Turkwell, passing by the Turkwell Gorge and dam, and make our way towards Lodwar through the Nasalot National Reserve.
Our destination for the day is Acacia accommodations in Lodwar.

15th of December
Day 4
We depart from Lodwar heading towards Lobur. This will be a day of off-road driving going past places like the Kalokol fish market and Nariakotome prehistoric graves as we drive up the coast of lake turkana.
In Lobur will be staying at the Lobur Catholic Mission.

16th of December
Day 5
We spend the day around Lobur. First dropping off the medical supplies, then hitting the off-road tracks around the area to explore places like the edge of the Illemi Triangle and the Gaterongeroi Mountains. We then return to the Catholic Mission and spend a second night

17th of December
Day 6

We leave Lobur and head back to Lodwar via Kaeris, taking the off-road tracks that will take us through Lolomat hills, Milima Tatu and the Lodwar Cone. Spending the night again at Acacia Accommodations.

18th of December
Day 7
We leave Lodwar and head towards Uganda. Please make sure that you have all necessary documentation for the border crossing. these includes yellow fever cards, vehicle log books, passports, COMESA insurance etc.
Once in Uganda we will head towards Moroto passing Mount Moroto forest. We will then spend the night in or around Moroto to town.

19th of December
Day 8
We leave Moroto and head towards Kapchorwa. Driving past Pian Upe wildlife reserve and Mount Kadam as we head towards Mount Elgon. We will spend the night in Sipi at Moses campsite, where we will hopefully have wonderful views of Sipi falls and get the chance to explore the area.

20th of December
Day 9
We live Sipi and then drive past Mount Elgon heading back into Kenya. After crossing the border we make our way down to Kakamega Rainforest.

21st of December
Day 10
From Kakamega we return home to Nairobi.
